 Application for Membership

Tenders Anticipated, Called and Let

Each quarter the Association publishes a database showing what projects have been tendered and what projects are likely to be tendered. This information is released at the quarterly briefings (see below) and also published in the membership section of our web site.

Collective Agreements

The Association’s industrial relations committee negotiates collective agreements on behalf of those members who wish to adopt them, arranges for them to be registered with the Australian Workplace Commissioner and keeps members up-to-date with changes to rates of conditions, pay and allowances. The decision on whether or not to use this service is one for individual members to make. There is no compulsion to do so.

Award, Agreement and Employment Enquiries

Employment disputes need to be resolved from time to time, even in the best of businesses. The Association staff and Directors are here to help as required.

Occupational Health and Safety Issues

OHS is likely to be one of the major industry issues in the next decade. Each member is given an OHS manual on CD, free of charge. The manual contains work method statements, site-specific plans and general policies and procedures. Each member is free to adapt them to his or her particular organisation.

Quarterly Briefing Sessions

Each quarter the Executive Director informs all members in general meeting on latest industry trends and developments. Admission and briefing notes issued at each briefing are free to members. Briefings are normally held at Silverwater Business Club.

Industry Compliance Certificate

Applications for Membership and Associate Membership are approved subject to completion of a satisfactory initial audit at Association expense, to ensure that award and other statutory obligations, such as payment of correct wages and superannuation, have been met. A financial audit is not conducted.

Upon issue of a satisfactory compliance report, the Member or Associate Member concerned is issued with an Industry Compliance Certificate.

Possession and display of the Certificate is a valuable marketing tool, as it indicates to potential clients the underlying strength and integrity of the mechanical contractor or sub-contractor concerned.
